Chicago, 27th May 2010  After frantic last minute preparations trying to repair and paint the house for the tenants and gather together my necessary odds and ends, it was off to Hilary's place for the final night where I had to check both the BA airlines strike and the Icelandic Volcano before selling off AUK the pocket rocket. (Renault 5) I had to get rid of her as there was nowhere to leave her unattended for more than a couple of months and who knows when I will be back? more

04th June 2010  Going to pick up the bike.
I have been to America three times before and on two of those occaisions used Greyhound buses to get around a very large section of the country. They were cheap and on the whole on time, with friendly, helpful staff and I enjoyed the experience, meeting a lot of quirky people but having a fun time. Unfortunately the same couldn't be said of this trip, apart from the quirky people, as the service has really deteriorated with buses that break down regularly, rude, unhelpful staff and expensive tickets more

Looks like  I left you last time somewhere near Petosky, another Hemingway stamping ground where I visited some friends who run a recording studio. This is a pretty, tourist town in the northern part of this State of Michigan. I thought I had better describe the area a bit as I haven't written much about the scenery so far. more

In an attempt to feel useful and try and repay the people that had helped me in the Ann Arbor area, I offered to do a talk on Adventure motorcycling at a local bikers cafe. The word was put out that I would be there one Tuesday night and I spent a day preparing my notes and Lynn kindly typed them up for me. more

Well, this is a surprise! Not in USA at present but back in UK while I sort out my visa. At least the sun is shining, though it is a lot cooler than Michigan.
It looks like the last report was from Ontario where Roger fixed my errant oil seal.  more
